Lancashire-based manufacturer Hurst Green Plastics has been formally presented with The King’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation, recognising the success of its pioneering TwinBin Live system.
The Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire, Mrs Amanda Parker JP, presented the award to Accounts Director Julie Monaco during a ceremony on 12 September at BAE Systems’ Warton Aerodrome – one of the many global sites where TwinBin Live is used to manage stock and fasteners.
Founded more than 45 years ago in Whalley, Hurst Green Plastics is a family-owned business supplying patented storage and inventory management systems to industries including aerospace, rail, electronics, engineering and healthcare. Its flagship TwinBin Live technology provides real-time tracking of safety-critical components, simplifying stock control while enhancing efficiency and productivity.
Managing Director Tommy Sharples described the award as a milestone moment for the company. “The King’s Awards is one of the most prestigious awards that a company can achieve,” he said. “It certainly has been a monumental year in our company’s history; including meeting HRH King Charles III at Windsor Castle and today with our company being presented with the award at our client BAE Systems’ premises. This is certainly a highlight of my career and I am very excited about what the future holds for our business.”
Julie Monaco added: “It was a real honour to welcome the Lord Lieutenant and her Deputies to BAE Systems’ Warton and to receive our King’s Award from her. Innovation has always been at the heart of what we do and this has enabled our business to become a globally trusted supplier to some of the world’s most renowned organisations.”
The presentation was attended by local dignitaries and guests, who were also given a tour of BAE Systems’ ‘Factory of the Future’ and shown its latest technologies.
Hurst Green Plastics first introduced its original TwinBin system in 2000, and has since evolved the product into TwinBin Live – a data-driven, vendor-managed inventory solution now adopted by major organisations worldwide. The company previously won The Queen’s Award for Innovation in 2012.
Alongside TwinBin Live, its portfolio has expanded to include Kitting Solutions, SpinFlags, BinFlags and Stock Control Carts – all designed and manufactured in Lancashire to support local industry and maintain the highest standards of quality.
