Taiwan–India bilateral trade has surged in recent years, expanding into key sectors like electronics, electric vehicles (EVs), renewable energy, semiconductors, and healthcare. As Taiwan’s strengths in advanced manufacturing, ICT, and green solutions align with India’s national priorities such as Digital India, Make in India, and the IndiaAI Mission, the two nations have laid a solid foundation for enhanced cooperation.
In line with these efforts, the Taiwan Expo 2025 in India is set to take place from September 25–27, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam (Pragati Maidan), Hall 1, New Delhi. The expo will focus on four key themes: Smart Manufacturing, Smart Technology, Green Innovation, and Wellness Fiesta. A total of 107 Taiwanese companies will showcase their innovative products and solutions aimed at strengthening Taiwan–India trade relations.
A pre-expo press conference held today featured prominent officials from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India, India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), and other industry leaders from both countries. Additionally, key organizations like FICCI, EEPC, TPCI, and ELCINA were also represented, underscoring the importance of the event in promoting Taiwan–India economic relations.
Strong Trade Momentum
Mr. Keven Cheng, Deputy Director of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), highlighted that despite challenges such as tariff issues and global supply chain realignments, India’s vast domestic market, abundant talent pool, and strategic location make it an essential new manufacturing hub for Taiwanese enterprises. Since its launch in 2018, the Taiwan Expo has been held for eight consecutive years, showcasing its role as a key platform for Taiwanese companies looking to expand their presence in India. Key areas of growth include semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, ICT, and smart machinery.
Ms. Yu-Chi Chen, Executive Director of the Economic Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India, shared that Taiwan–India bilateral trade reached a record high of USD 10.6 billion in 2024. This growth is further evidenced by a threefold increase in Taiwanese enterprises investing in India since 2017, with more than 250 companies now operating in the Indian market. This surge demonstrates the growing integration of the Taiwan–India industrial value chain and the increasing commitment of Taiwanese businesses to India.
Taiwan Expo Highlights and Innovation Showcase
The press conference provided a preview of some of the innovative products that will be featured at the Taiwan Expo. Advantech, a leader in industrial computers, will present its cutting-edge industrial PCs. Zyxel will showcase its advanced security routers and access point solutions, while Proscend Communications Inc., a leader in Industrial IoT connectivity, will highlight its industrial routers and switches. In addition, IPEVO, a leading brand in visual solutions, will display its versatile video collaboration devices, and TAISYS Technologies will unveil a newly developed drone, showcasing Taiwan’s innovation capabilities.
In response to India’s growing consumer market, the expo will be held concurrently with World Food India, the country’s largest food exhibition. The Taiwan Select Food Pavilion will feature Taiwan’s diverse food offerings, including premium air-dried noodles by A-Sha Foods, plant-based jerky and meal kits from HOYA Next Meats, and instant boba milk tea kits by DR. Diary Co., Ltd. These products were introduced at the press conference, further showcasing Taiwan’s rich culinary innovations.
Strengthening Ties Amid Geopolitical Changes
As global supply chains and geopolitical dynamics shift, Taiwan and India have increasingly turned to one another as key partners in the technology and electronics manufacturing sectors. Taiwanese companies are not only attracted to India for its vast market potential but also as a strategic base for deeper investments. The Taiwan Expo 2025 serves as an important platform for Taiwanese companies looking to enter the Indian market for the first time, as well as for those already established in India.
Among the companies participating in the event is Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn), a major Taiwanese enterprise with a strong presence in India. The expo will allow Taiwanese and Indian entrepreneurs to explore new collaboration opportunities, laying the groundwork for future innovation and economic growth.
Looking Ahead
Taiwan and India’s growing economic, trade, and talent exchanges position the two nations as strong, reliable partners in the global market. The Taiwan Expo 2025 in India offers a significant opportunity to deepen these ties, fostering a brighter future for innovation, trade, and mutual economic growth between the two countries.
